    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated,
    1-3  and so it was for Mrs. Era Thetford of Grapeland, Texas, on
    1-4  March 21, 1993, when she was the guest of honor on her special day;
    1-5  and
    1-6        WHEREAS, This being her 80th birthday, she has been
    1-7  privileged to witness events most of us only read about in history
    1-8  books; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A fourth-generation Texan, Mrs. Thetford was born
   1-10  on March 23, 1913, in Houston County to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Owens;
   1-11  and
   1-12        WHEREAS, She married Luther H. Thetford on
   1-13  September 21, 1929, and they were the parents of five children;
   1-14  and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world
   1-16  are evident as she recalls tales of years past; Mrs. Thetford has
   1-17  earned respect and friendship from all who know her; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Still a vital member of her community, she is
   1-19  noted for her exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to the
   1-20  fullest; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of this beloved matriarch
   1-22  gathered at the Grapeland Nutrition Center to honor her in a manner
   1-23  best befitting the event; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  73rd Legislature, hereby declare Mrs. Era Thetford a treasured
    2-3  citizen of her town and state, wishing her many more years of
    2-4  health and happiness; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to her
    2-6  as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
