    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Louis Edwin Biar
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Giddings in mourning the death of Louis Edwin Biar
    1-7  on February 24, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born on June 12, 1908, in Giddings to
    1-9  Wilhelmine Schubert Biar and August J. Biar, Mr. Biar graduated
   1-10  from Giddings High School in 1926 and from Tri State University
   1-11  in Angola, Indiana, in 1931, with a degree in electrical
   1-12  engineering; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Greatly interested in radio, this respected
   1-14  gentleman accepted a position as operating engineer with a radio
   1-15  broadcast station in Mississippi; while working there, he met
   1-16  Lorene Scott Bien and they were married on July 2, 1933; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, After moving back to Giddings in 1933, Mr. Biar
   1-18  began working with his father who sold wholesale hardware; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Louis Edwin Biar was an
   1-20  active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving as an
   1-21  elder and on the school building committee; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Highly esteemed by his fellow citizens, Mr. Biar
   1-23  worked for many years as Democratic Precinct Chairman and as an
    2-1  election judge; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Mr. Biar's varied and notable achievements greatly
    2-3  contributed to the development and progress of his community; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, The wise counsel and good judgment of
    2-5  Louis Edwin Biar will be greatly missed and remembered with
    2-6  gratitude by those who lived and worked with him; now, therefore,
    2-7  be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-10  of his family:  his wife, Lorene; his son, Louis Edwin Biar, Jr.;
   2-11  and his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and,
   2-12  be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-15  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
   2-16  it do so in memory of Louis Edwin Biar.
