    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Dr. Jeanne Rierson of College Station for earning the
    1-4  Outstanding Contribution by a Minority Engineering Program
    1-5  Administrator Award; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The award was given to Dr. Rierson at the National
    1-7  Association of Minority Engineering Program Administrators convention
    1-8  held February 8 through 10, 1993, in San Diego, California; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Director of Texas A&M University's College of
   1-10  Engineering's Minority Engineering Program "MEP" since 1984,
   1-11  Dr. Rierson was nominated for the award by Herbert H. Richardson,
   1-12  chancellor of The Texas A&M University System; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented administrator,
   1-14  Dr. Rierson heads the College of Engineering's Ensure Quality
   1-15  Academics for Engineering and Science program which includes the
   1-16  Minority Engineering Program, the Women Engineering Program, and
   1-17  the Honors Program; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, During Dr. Rierson's tenure, the Texas A&M Minority
   1-19  Engineering Program has more than doubled the number of engineering
   1-20  degrees awarded to minorities and minority enrollment has climbed
   1-21  from seven percent of the student population to more than 12
   1-22  percent; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, An expert in her field, Dr. Rierson is a loyal and
    2-1  dedicated assistant to the dean of engineering who has worked
    2-2  diligently on behalf of the university and its students; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, An exemplary woman of remarkable intelligence and
    2-4  perseverance, Dr. Rierson is a respected leader in the department
    2-5  of engineering who has developed innovative and well-organized
    2-6  programs that have proved to be successful; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Jeanne Rierson for her worthy
    2-9  accomplishments as director of Texas A&M University's College
   2-10  of Engineering's Minority Engineering Program and express
   2-11  appreciation to her for her many contributions to the school and
   2-12  the department of engineering; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
