No. 588 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Daniel Webster Bankhead on the occasion of his recent 1-4 selection as a Young Black Achiever of Houston by Human Enrichment 1-5 of Life Programs, Incorporated; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Since 1985, Human Enrichment of Life Programs, 1-7 Incorporated, has selected outstanding young black individuals 1-8 who have demonstrated superior abilities and skills in their 1-9 respective fields and have achieved positions of leadership and 1-10 management; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A Young Black Achiever is also selected on the 1-12 basis of community service and high personal standards; the 1-13 achiever is one who readily accepts challenges and has the 1-14 fortitude and tenacity to succeed; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Daniel Webster Bankhead received his bachelor of 1-16 architecture degree from Rice University in 1982 and is now the 1-17 executive director of a multimillion dollar architectural firm, 1-18 John S. Chase, F.A.I.A., Architect, Incorporated; and 1-19 WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented architect and a gifted 1-20 leader, he is also serving currently as project director; he is 1-21 responsible for the overall management of a team of more than 60 1-22 design professionals for a $35 million project in northern Africa 1-23 for the United States State Department; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Active in his community, he serves on the Rice 2-2 Design Alliance Board of Directors and the South Central Young 2-3 Men's Christian Association Board; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Daniel Bankhead is a man of high moral principles 2-5 who consistently manifests generosity and concern for others; and 2-6 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who has been remarkably 2-7 successful in his field, Daniel Bankhead is an excellent role model 2-8 for young men and women throughout our state and country; now, 2-9 therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Daniel Webster Bankhead on earning 2-12 the distinction of Young Black Achiever of Houston and on his 2-13 outstanding career and extend best wishes to him for the future; 2-14 and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-16 him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-17 _____________________________________ 2-18 President of the Senate 2-19 I hereby certify that the 2-20 above Resolution was adopted by 2-21 the Senate on April 7, 1993. 2-22 _____________________________________ 2-23 Secretary of the Senate 2-24 _____________________________________ 2-25 Member, Texas Senate
