    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes
    1-3  great pleasure in recognizing Judy Berry who was named
    1-4  1993 Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association of Literacy
    1-5  and Adult Education; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, An inspiring and gifted teacher, Judy Berry has
    1-7  captured the imagination and attention of her students, thereby
    1-8  bestowing on them the wonderful gift of learning and growing
    1-9  intellectually; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, An exemplary role model, she guides her adult
   1-11  pupils with understanding, encouragement, and dedication; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Few individuals have given so selflessly of
   1-13  themselves to helping adults learn to read as she has through her
   1-14  skillfulness and wise counsel; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A full-time teacher in the Adult Learning Center
   1-16  of the Abilene Independent School District, she instructs literacy
   1-17  classes as well as general equivalency degree and competency-based
   1-18  high school diploma courses; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Since 1977, Judy has devoted herself to helping
   1-20  adults become literate so that they can become functional in the
   1-21  world around them; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-23  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Judy Berry for her meritorious
    2-1  work with the adult literacy program and express its congratulations
    2-2  to her on her much deserved honor; and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-4  esteemed educator as an expression of the admiration and best wishes
    2-5  of the Texas Senate.
