    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud
    1-3  to congratulate Helen Foehner, Executive Director for the
    1-4  West Cameron County Chapter of the American Red Cross, for
    1-5  her 50 years of dedicated service to her community; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, South Texans are widely known for their civic
    1-7  pride and social involvement; Helen Foehner is one of those
    1-8  South Texans who gives the best of herself to her community;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Touted for her countless hours of superlative
   1-11  work, Mrs. Foehner became actively involved with the Red Cross as a
   1-12  volunteer in 1941; she took a job as Executive Secretary in 1943 and
   1-13  has been with the Red Cross ever since; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A selfless volunteer of her time and energies,
   1-15  Mrs. Foehner has received several awards for her noteworthy civic
   1-16  activities; in 1968 she was named Woman of the Year by the Harlingen
   1-17  Business and Professional Women's Club; in 1974 Mrs. Foehner was
   1-18  presented with the Clara Barton Award by the national American Red
   1-19  Cross; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A visionary and responsible woman who has worked
   1-21  hard to expand the scope of Red Cross services in her community,
   1-22  Helen Foehner is held in high esteem in the Rio Grande Valley; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The varied and worthwhile activities of this
    2-1  outstanding woman have contributed greatly to the steady growth and
    2-2  progress of her area; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant and a diligent and
    2-4  hardworking woman, Helen Foehner has earned the admiration and
    2-5  respect of all those with whom she worked; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby congratulate Helen Foehner on her
    2-8  50 years of service with the American Red Cross; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  Mrs. Foehner as an expression of highest esteem from the Texas Senate.
