    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-3  citizens of Humble in congratulating Mayor Haden E. McKay, M.D.,
    1-4  who received the 1992 Dr. Nathan Davis Award from the American
    1-5  Medical Association in the category of Mayor of a City; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, First presented in 1989, the award is given
    1-7  yearly to public servants and elected officials who promote the
    1-8  art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Dr. McKay is the first physician-mayor to be
   1-11  honored in the four years that the award has been presented; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Haden McKay graduated from Chicago Medical
   1-13  College in 1936 and joined his father in private practice in 1938;
   1-14  and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In 1941 Lillian Janda and Dr. Haden McKay were
   1-16  married and they are well known for their love and devotion; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Following a family tradition of medical service,
   1-18  Dr. McKay has practiced medicine for 57 years; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Highly lauded by friends, patients, and colleagues,
   1-20  Dr. McKay is seeking his 12th term as mayor; he still maintains a
   1-21  full medical practice in his chosen specialty of family medicine;
   1-22  and
   1-23        WHEREAS, In addition to his activities as civic leader and
    2-1  physician, Dr. McKay has also been active in professional groups;
    2-2  he has been vice president of the Harris County Medical Society,
    2-3  a delegate from Texas to the American Medical Association's House
    2-4  of Delegates, a past president of the Texas Academy of Family
    2-5  Physicians, and a past chairman of the Medical Associates Board
    2-6  of Councilors; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, This notable physician was honored by the Texas
    2-8  Medical Association with the Distinguished Service Award in 1979
    2-9  for his contributions to medicine and to the state; truly this
   2-10  illustrious gentleman is deserving of legislative recognition; now,
   2-11  therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the many and various accomplishments
   2-14  of Dr. Haden E. McKay and congratulate him on receiving the 1992
   2-15  Dr. Nathan Davis Award from the American Medical Association; and,
   2-16  be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-18  Dr. McKay as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
