    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                      Colonel Ben C. McComas, Jr.
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with
    1-6  the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of
    1-7  Colonel Ben C. McComas, Jr., who died February 3, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Imbued with deep love of country, Colonel McComas
    1-9  enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and was commissioned
   1-10  from the Tank Destroyer School at Fort Hood in 1943; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, After duty in Italy during World War II,
   1-12  Colonel McComas was a member of the occupation forces in Italy and
   1-13  Japan and subsequently served in the Counter Intelligence Corps;
   1-14  his last tour of duty was as Region Commander of the New Mexico and
   1-15  West Texas areas; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A man of many talents and abilities, Colonel McComas
   1-17  later became a successful stockbroker and realtor; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Noted for his honesty and integrity, Colonel McComas
   1-19  instilled his own personal code of honor in his children and
   1-20  grandchildren; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, His wisdom and wise counsel will remain cherished
   1-22  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
    2-2  of his family:  his wife, Elsa; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara
    2-3  and Roy Anderson; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bruce and
    2-4  Cathleen McComas; and his grandsons, Ryden Anderson, Brian McComas,
    2-5  Connor McComas, and Devin McComas; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-7  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
    2-8  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
    2-9  so in memory of Colonel Ben C. McComas, Jr.
