    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with
    1-3  the family and friends of Clint Cox of Paradise, Texas, in
    1-4  congratulating him on winning a grand prize in a national trading
    1-5  card contest; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The nationwide contest sponsored by Club Pro Sets,
    1-7  a company which designs trading cards with educational information,
    1-8  awarded prizes to students who designed their own cards; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A sixth-grade student at Paradise Elementary School,
   1-10  Clint is in the school's gifted and talented program, Paradise
   1-11  Academic Creative Education; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, His class accepted the challenge in December 1992
   1-13  and agreed on designing an "illustrated idiom"--a phrase with
   1-14  nonliteral meaning; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Clint's illustration of "the robber held up the bank"
   1-16  depicted a muscular person holding a bank and was chosen as the
   1-17  class entry; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Entries were judged by the company on originality
   1-19  and creativity and as a fun learning activity; Clint was one of
   1-20  nine contestants to win a grand prize; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Clint's prizes included 40 sets of Club Pro Set
   1-22  cards for the school, a set of Club Pro Set binders for each member
   1-23  of the Paradise Academic Creative Education program, and a free trip
    2-1  for the teacher; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, The outstanding accomplishment of the young Texan
    2-3  is an inspiration and source of pride for all of us; now, therefore,
    2-4  be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  73rd Legislature, hereby commend and applaud Clint Cox for winning
    2-7  a grand prize in the Club Pro Sets contest; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-9  Clint as an expression of the admiration of the Texas Senate with
   2-10  all best wishes for success in his future endeavors.
