    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, George S. Hinkle was named 1992 Breeder of the
    1-3  Year by the International Brangus Breeders Association during the
    1-4  Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in February, and the Texas Senate
    1-5  is proud to recognize him for his notable contributions to the
    1-6  ranching industry; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Owner of the Leaning H Ranch in Driftwood, Texas,
    1-8  Mr. Hinkle has earned the admiration and respect of the members of
    1-9  his profession through his remarkable work with Brangus cattle and
   1-10  his involvement in community affairs; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, George and Frances Hinkle purchased their 600-acre
   1-12  ranch at Driftwood in 1982 when the land was unimproved and replete
   1-13  with wildlife; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Employing careful management techniques and
   1-15  dedicated to protecting the environment, Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle began
   1-16  an extensive land improvement and construction program; today the
   1-17  Leaning H Ranch is recognized as a showplace ranch with the most
   1-18  modern facilities and efficient operations; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, In 1984 his ranch operations started a herd of
   1-20  prize Brangus and since then the cattle have received many
   1-21  championship awards; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Deeply involved in every phase of the development
   1-23  of Brangus cattle, Mr. Hinkle has served as a director of the
    2-1  International Brangus Breeders Association and the Texas Brangus
    2-2  Breeders Association; he is also past president of the Hill Country
    2-3  Brangus Breeders Association and has served on various committees
    2-4  within the associations; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, His involvement resulted in his successful efforts
    2-6  to revitalize and expand the America's Brangus Exposition and
    2-7  Futurity held each year in Kerrville; the 20th America's Brangus
    2-8  Exposition and Futurity was dedicated to Mr. Hinkle for his
    2-9  endeavors; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, His devotion to the Brangus breed and the ranching
   2-11  industry is well known among his fellow ranchers who have honored
   2-12  him with numerous prestigious awards; Mr. Hinkle was recognized as
   2-13  "Outstanding Conservation Rancher of Hays County" in 1985 by the
   2-14  San Marcos Lions Club; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, The esteemed individual was honored with the Onion
   2-16  Creek Citizen of the Year Award in 1987 for successfully blocking
   2-17  the construction of an environmentally unsafe oil pipeline across
   2-18  the Texas Hill Country and was inducted into the Heart of America
   2-19  Brangus Breeders Association Hall of Fame in 1991; now, therefore,
   2-20  be it
   2-21        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-22  73rd Legislature, hereby commend and applaud George S. Hinkle for
   2-23  his exceptional accomplishments to the benefit of all Texans; and,
   2-24  be it further
   2-25        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    3-1  Mr. Hinkle as an expression of the high regard of the
    3-2  Texas Senate.
