No. 665 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 salute the coaches and members of the Flour Bluff High School girls 1-4 basketball team for their exceptional accomplishments during the 1-5 1992-1993 season; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of coach Mary Vaughn, 1-7 the Flour Bluff High School squad enjoyed a successful season by 1-8 reaching the regional semi-finals in the playoffs; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets' outstanding year is a tribute to the 1-10 girls' exceptional talent and the loyal team spirit they consistently 1-11 displayed; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Emerging as the winners of their highly competitive 1-13 District 32, the Flour Bluff High School Lady Hornets posted an 1-14 impressive record in regular season play to claim the district crown; 1-15 the team advanced into the postseason round of competition, where the 1-16 Lady Hornets continued their string of superb athletic performances 1-17 before losing to Austin Westlake; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets are to be commended for their 1-19 sterling exhibition on the court; their consistent team play, 1-20 competitiveness, and hard work to achieve their goal 1-21 characterized the overall accomplishments of team members 1-22 Leslea Martin, Cyndi Roberts, Angie Clifton, Lauri Weathers, 1-23 Amy Seeds, Patsy Rocha, Amy Harlan, Esther Trevino, 2-1 Roxanne Flores, Juanita Sanchez, Gayle Ganley, and 2-2 Lisa Helmberger; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Individual honors were accorded Lauri Weathers, 2-4 who was voted Most Valuable Player in State Girls Class 4-A 2-5 basketball, Most Valuable Player for District 32, All Metro, 2-6 All Southwest Texas, All Region, and First Team All State; 2-7 Cyndi Roberts and Amy Seeds who won First Team All District 2-8 honors; and Leslea Martin and Esther Trevino who were named 2-9 All District Honorable Mention; and 2-10 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets basketball team's remarkable 2-11 season is attributable to the thorough guidance of their coach 2-12 Mary Vaughn and the excellent assistance of managers Gwen Barganza 2-13 and Brenda Smith, trainer Dena Demaret, and video manager 2-14 Elisa Bourlot; now, therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-16 73rd Legislature, hereby join with the family and friends of the 2-17 Lady Hornets in congratulating them on their splendid achievements 2-18 during the 1992-1993 basketball season; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-20 Lady Hornets as an expression of the admiration of the Texas Senate 2-21 with all best wishes for much success in the future. 2-22 Truan 2-23 Armbrister Leedom Rosson 2-24 Barrientos Lucio Shapiro 2-25 Bivins Luna Shelley 3-1 Brown Madla Sibley 3-2 Carriker Moncrief Sims 3-3 Ellis Montford Turner 3-4 Haley Nelson Wentworth 3-5 Harris of Dallas Parker West 3-6 Harris of Tarrant Patterson Whitmire 3-7 Henderson Ratliff Zaffirini 3-8 Bullock, President of the Senate 3-9 _____________________________________ 3-10 President of the Senate 3-11 I hereby certify that the 3-12 above Resolution was adopted by 3-13 the Senate on April 21, 1993. 3-14 _____________________________________ 3-15 Secretary of the Senate 3-16 _____________________________________ 3-17 Member, Texas Senate
