    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           William Ira Lowe
    1-5        WHEREAS, The City of Taylor mourned the passing of
    1-6  Dr. William Ira Lowe, one of the city's most beloved citizens, who
    1-7  died March 12, 1993, at the age of 95; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A resident of Taylor since 1981, Dr. Lowe was a
    1-9  retired Southern Baptist minister and was a member of the First
   1-10  Baptist Church in Taylor; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Throughout his long career Dr. Lowe ministered
   1-12  faithfully to the physical and spiritual needs of innumerable
   1-13  Christians; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Dedicated to his vocation, he was deeply interested
   1-15  in the religious, educational, and civic development of the residents
   1-16  of his community; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The son of John T. and Elizabeth Homes Lowe, Dr. Lowe
   1-18  was born in Bonita, Texas, on April 17, 1897; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, He served his country with honor during World War II
   1-20  as a member of the United States Army; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Early in his ministry, Dr. Lowe pastored several
   1-22  churches in Oklahoma and was also a district missionary in Oklahoma;
   1-23  and
    2-1        WHEREAS, After moving to California he served on
    2-2  the California Baptist College Board where he made many valuable
    2-3  contributions to the faculty and students; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Dr. Lowe left a lasting impression on all who
    2-5  were fortunate to know him and the members of his congregation are
    2-6  grateful for the positive influence he had on their lives; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-10  of his family:  his wife, Lottie; his daughter, Barbara Ann Bolton;
   2-11  his brother, Alva Lowe; and his five grandchildren and five
   2-12  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-14  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-15  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
   2-16  memory of Dr. William Ira Lowe.
