By: Turner S.R. No. 691 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The John H. Wootters Crockett Public Library will 1-3 sorely miss the wisdom and expertise of Sallie Woodward Marsh who 1-4 is retiring after 20 years of dedicated service as head librarian; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, this distinguished lady 1-7 discharged her duties in a most conscientious manner; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Sallie Woodward Marsh began working at the library 1-9 in 1973 after earning her bachelor's degree and master's degree in 1-10 library science from Sam Houston State University; at the time the 1-11 library consisted of about 2,000 books; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The large modern facility of today, which was 1-13 completed in 1974, has 98,000 volumes on the shelves and another 1-14 2,000 awaiting shelving; and 1-15 WHEREAS, During her tenure, the library has added a 1-16 well-stocked and popular Genealogy Room, a rare books 1-17 collection, and a summer reading program for children; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The varied and notable achievements of Mrs. Marsh 1-19 have contributed immensely to the growth and progress of her 1-20 community; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Noted for her honesty and integrity, Mrs. Marsh 1-22 has earned the respect and friendship of all her colleagues; now, 1-23 therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Sallie Woodward Marsh for her 2-3 superlative career of service and dedication to the citizens of 2-4 Houston County and the State of Texas; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 Mrs. Marsh as an expression of high regard and esteem from the 2-7 Texas Senate. 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the 2-11 above Resolution was adopted by 2-12 the Senate on April 22, 1993. 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
