    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             Arlevia Brown
    1-5        WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Arlevia Brown mourn
    1-6  the loss of this beloved native Texan who died April 3, 1993; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Born in Leon County on May 17, 1907, she lived all
    1-8  her life in Bryan; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A remarkable Texas woman, she knew all the joys and
   1-10  sorrows of a full lifetime of 85 years; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Brown leaves behind
   1-12  a legacy of love and compassion; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, During her lifetime she established a permanent
   1-14  place for herself in the hearts of those who lived and worked with
   1-15  her; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Brown was a member of New
   1-17  Zion Missionary Baptist Church; she taught Sunday school and was a
   1-18  Mission 1 teacher; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Her genuine warmth and good humor will be missed by
   1-20  her many friends; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-22  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   1-23  of her family:  her sons, John C. Brown, the Reverend A. K. Brown,
    2-1  and James Otis Brown; her daughters, Olevia Franklin and
    2-2  Cora McMurray; her stepdaughter, Coretha Owens; her brothers,
    2-3  Horace Patterson, Freeman Patterson, and Ezra Patterson; her
    2-4  sisters, Ellen Jones, Reba Sterling, and Alzeta Moorings; and her
    2-5  18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and six
    2-6  great-great-grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-8  members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
    2-9  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-10  in memory of Arlevia Brown.
