    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, On May 11, 1993, Williamson County Day will
    1-3  be celebrated by the proud citizens of Williamson County in
    1-4  recognition of their illustrious county and its contributions
    1-5  to the State of Texas; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Named for pioneer leader Robert M. Williamson,
    1-7  the county was organized in 1848; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Williamson County is comprised of 1,136 square
    1-9  miles that stretch from rich blackland prairie westward to rolling
   1-10  Hill Country ranchland; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Over 130,000 Texans live in Williamson County; the
   1-12  county is also home to the oldest institution of higher education
   1-13  in the state, Southwestern University, which is considered one of
   1-14  the country's leading private universities; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The county grew by 82 percent in the 1980s, and the
   1-16  projected growth rate for the 1990s is even higher; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, This noteworthy county possesses a healthy economic
   1-18  base; it is one of the top 10 counties in the state in agricultural
   1-19  income; it also has a diverse economy which includes industries in
   1-20  manufacturing and distribution, electronics, and agriculture; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Home to several advanced technology companies that
   1-22  are leading our country into the 21st century, Williamson County
   1-23  is rich in history and tradition while leading the way to Texas'
    2-1  future; Williamson County is indeed worthy of legislative
    2-2  recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Williamson County
    2-5  for their contributions to the State of Texas and extend best wishes
    2-6  for a joyous Williamson County Day; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-8  citizens of Williamson County as a memento of this special day and
    2-9  as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
