    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pleasure in congratulating Stephanie Garcia on being named Student
    1-4  of the Week by the San Antonio Express-News; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A young adult whose future shows great promise,
    1-6  Stephanie intends to pursue her higher education at either Stanford,
    1-7  Princeton, Columbia, Vassar, or Trinity where she will study biology
    1-8  or education; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman's list of
   1-10  achievements is truly impressive:  she has earned academic
   1-11  recognition with the Academic Decathlon and the University
   1-12  Interscholastic League literary criticism competition; she ranks
   1-13  at the top of her class with a 4.15 grade point average; she was a
   1-14  nominee for the Princeton Book Prize; and she was a state qualifier
   1-15  in the Future Problem Solving competition; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A versatile and hardworking teenager,
   1-17  Stephanie is a member of the Health Careers Institute, Youth for
   1-18  Understanding, and the Adopt-A-Grandparent program; she is a member
   1-19  of many organizations, including the National Honor Society and the
   1-20  Drama Club at McCollum High School; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Stephanie is an asset to her community, and her
   1-22  exemplary devotion to her school and her community have earned her
   1-23  a reputation as an outstanding and capable young woman who has won
    2-1  the respect and friendship of her many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  73rd Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Stephanie Garcia
    2-4  for her impressive accomplishments and wish her well in her future
    2-5  endeavors; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
    2-7  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
