    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Alcoa's Rockdale Operations which was recently selected
    1-4  as the Organization of the Year by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce;
    1-5  and
    1-6        WHEREAS, An integral part of Rockdale's daily life for over
    1-7  40 years, Alcoa's Rockdale Operations has generously contributed
    1-8  time and money to numerous community causes and has provided the
    1-9  city with talented leadership; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, One of Rockdale's major assets, Alcoa has worked
   1-11  diligently to improve the city's programs in the areas of education,
   1-12  recreation, political activities, and health and safety; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Rockdale Operations and the Alcoa Foundation have
   1-14  helped to fund the city park, a swimming pool, Richards Memorial
   1-15  Hospital, school equipment and facilities, scholarships, the city
   1-16  library, and girl and boy scout organizations; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Other organizations benefitting from Rockdale
   1-18  Operations and/or Alcoa Foundation donations include United Way,
   1-19  4-H, Mathcounts Foundations and teams, the Texas Chemical Council,
   1-20  and the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Since the company began its operations in Rockdale
   1-22  in 1952, the Alcoa Foundation has donated $200 million to the
   1-23  various communities in which Alcoa operates; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Alcoa's Rockdale Operations is a philanthropic
    2-2  organization that strongly encourages its employees to become
    2-3  involved with the community and that conducts its business with
    2-4  a commitment to integrity and respect for the individual; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Alcoa's Rockdale Operations for
    2-8  its generous contributions to the Rockdale community and extend
    2-9  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-11  the company as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
