    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                              John Marks
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Bryan, Texas, in mourning the untimely loss of
    1-7  Postmaster John Marks who died April 1, 1993, at the age
    1-8  of 45; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Mr. Marks will be
   1-10  remembered for the affection, confidence, and loyalty he inspired
   1-11  in those with whom he was associated; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Born in Moline, Illinois, on June 26, 1947,
   1-13  Mr. Marks had lived in Bryan since 1989; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, He attended Moline High School and Western Illinois
   1-15  University before serving his country in the United States Army
   1-16  during the Vietnam War; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A dedicated and diligent worker, Mr. Marks began his
   1-18  postal service career in 1968 as a city carrier in Moline; in 1977
   1-19  he was promoted to supervisor in Rock Island, Illinois, before
   1-20  becoming postmaster in Bryan on April 21, 1989; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, His death is a profoundly sensed loss for his family
   1-22  and friends; he established a permanent place for himself in the
   1-23  hearts of those who lived and worked with him; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Mr. Marks's wise counsel and sound judgment will be
    2-2  deeply missed and remembered with gratitude by those who knew him;
    2-3  now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-6  members of his family:  his wife, Rita; his sons, Creighton and
    2-7  Aaron Franklin; his daughter, Shari Callow; his grandchildren,
    2-8  Ashley Callow and Dylan Callow; and his half-brother,
    2-9  Everett Marks; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-11  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-12  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-13  in memory of John Marks.
