    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Texas Aggie Band was organized at the
    1-3  A&M College of Texas in 1894 by Arthur Jenkins and Joseph Holick
    1-4  as a volunteer organization of 13 students; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, From that beginning, the Texas Aggie Band
    1-6  has developed into the nation's premier military marching
    1-7  band consisting of over 300 men and women students at
    1-8  Texas A&M University, currently under the direction of
    1-9  Lieutenant Colonel Ray E. Toler, United States Air Force (Retired);
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The Texas Aggie Band is known and respected
   1-12  for its outstanding military marching style, its tradition of
   1-13  continuous play throughout its marching maneuvers, and its unique
   1-14  presentation of intricate marching formations at each halftime of
   1-15  a Texas Aggie football game; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The Texas Aggie Band has brought recognition
   1-17  and honor to Texas A&M University, its students, and its former
   1-18  students by performing on national television on numerous occasions
   1-19  and traveling to out-of-state football games and parades; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The Texas Aggie Band was honored to be chosen
   1-21  to represent all Texans by marching in the 1989 Bicentennial
   1-22  Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C.; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, By building on its proud tradition of excellence
    2-1  and service the Texas Aggie Band continues to provide young men
    2-2  and women with opportunities to excel both as musicians and leaders
    2-3  through membership in the Corps of Cadets of Texas A&M University;
    2-4  and
    2-5        WHEREAS, The Texas Aggie Band will be celebrating its
    2-6  centennial in 1994; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  73rd Legislature, hereby congratulate the Texas Aggie Band on
    2-9  the momentous occasion of its centennial year and commend all
   2-10  persons who have participated in and assisted this organization
   2-11  to ensure its success and continuation of excellence; and, be it
   2-12  further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  Lieutenant Colonel Ray E. Toler, United States Air Force (Retired)
   2-15  and for Texas A&M University as an expression of high regard from
   2-16  the Texas Senate.
