No. 745 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly 1-3 recognizes the students of Newton High School who are active members 1-4 in the state organization, Drug Free Youth In Texas, and who are 1-5 making a special visit to the Senate today; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The Drug Free Youth In Texas Club was organized at 1-7 Newton High School several years ago by Marilyn Barry, and she has 1-8 faithfully served as the club's sponsor since Newton High School 1-9 became a member of the state organization; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The admirable pledge to join the state 1-11 Drug Free Youth In Texas Club and to keep the school drug free was 1-12 the result of a united effort by dedicated students and faculty 1-13 members who deserve to be proud of their endeavor; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Drug prevention and control are unquestionably of 1-15 major importance to Texans today and to future generations; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The students of today are the citizens and leaders 1-17 of tomorrow who will carry forth with the responsibilities of our 1-18 nation and of its government; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The concern over drug use manifested by the students 1-20 of Newton High School is exemplary of their interest in the welfare 1-21 of our state and of our country; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-23 73rd Legislature, hereby commend the students of Newton High School 2-1 for joining Drug Free Youth In Texas and extend to them a warm 2-2 welcome to the capital city; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-4 for the school in appreciation of the visit by the members of 2-5 Newton High School's Drug Free Youth In Texas Club. 2-6 _____________________________________ 2-7 President of the Senate 2-8 I hereby certify that the 2-9 above Resolution was adopted by 2-10 the Senate on April 27, 1993. 2-11 _____________________________________ 2-12 Secretary of the Senate 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Member, Texas Senate
