No. 752 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize the First Baptist Church of Caldwell, Texas, on the 1-4 grand occasion of its 150th anniversary which is being celebrated 1-5 May 2, 1993; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The First Baptist Church began when six members 1-7 signed a covenant on May 4, 1843; the procedure was witnessed by 1-8 Judge R. E. B. Baylor and Reverend N. T. Byars, and the church was 1-9 organized as Dove Church; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Over the years, the First Baptist Church has 1-11 ministered faithfully to the needs of innumerable Christians; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Due to the guidance and wise stewardship of its 1-13 pastors, and the outstanding leadership of its current pastor, 1-14 Reverend Phillip Lovelace, the church has continued to grow and 1-15 to undertake many worthy projects within the community; and 1-16 WHEREAS, First Baptist Church has become an invaluable 1-17 source of strength for church members during their hardships 1-18 and in times of bereavement; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The celebration of its 150th anniversary is an 1-20 expression of the church's enduring commitment to its holy mission 1-21 and its dedication to tradition and unity among Christians; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 73rd Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and 2-2 members of the First Baptist Church on the jubilant occasion of 2-3 its 150th anniversary; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 the church as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-6 _____________________________________ 2-7 President of the Senate 2-8 I hereby certify that the 2-9 above Resolution was adopted by 2-10 the Senate on April 27, 1993. 2-11 _____________________________________ 2-12 Secretary of the Senate 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Member, Texas Senate
