    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated,
    1-3  and so it was for Mrs. Octura Preston when she was the guest of
    1-4  honor on her special day; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Since this was her 83rd birthday, she has been
    1-6  privileged to witness events many of us only read about in history
    1-7  books; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world are
    1-9  evident as she recalls tales of years past; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Today, she enjoys reminiscing and takes pleasure
   1-11  in the companionship of friends and family, including her
   1-12  great-great-great-grandchildren; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
   1-14  she is noted for her exemplary courage and her enthusiasm for
   1-15  living each day to the fullest; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of Mrs. Preston gathered on
   1-17  April 10, 1993, in her home for a reception and Easter egg hunt
   1-18  in honor of her birthday; now, therefore, be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-20  73rd Legislature, hereby recognize Mrs. Octura Preston as a
   1-21  treasured citizen of Fairfield, Texas, and wish her health and
   1-22  happiness; and, be it further
   1-23        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to
    2-1  Mrs. Preston as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
