No. 776 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize the Imperial Sugar Company on the grand occasion of 1-4 its 150th anniversary; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The oldest company in Texas, the Imperial Sugar 1-6 Company has been in business at the same location in Sugar Land 1-7 since 1843; to begin its sesquicentennial celebration, the company 1-8 hosted a dinner in March in Houston that honored Imperial Sugar 1-9 Company's workers with five-year milestone recognition; and 1-10 WHEREAS, When the company started, it possessed three 1-11 essential factors that guaranteed success: land, labor, and money; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, Along with knowledge and the exchange of information, 1-14 several other factors can be credited with contributing to the 1-15 longevity of the Imperial Sugar Company including the dedication 1-16 and loyalty of employees who completed work on time, good luck, 1-17 future events that were anticipated correctly, and patience on the 1-18 part of management; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The Kempner family of Galveston rescued the 1-20 faltering Sugar Land properties soon after the turn of the century 1-21 and has remained active in ownership and management for over eight 1-22 decades; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The company conducts its business based on a strong 2-1 belief in honesty and a commitment to high-quality service; and 2-2 WHEREAS, The employees consistently strive for excellence 2-3 and efficiency in all areas of operation; the company's talented 2-4 workers deserve to be proud of their efforts on behalf of their 2-5 corporation; truly this company and its employees are worthy of 2-6 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Imperial Sugar Company on the 2-9 momentous occasion of its 150th anniversary; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this 2-11 dynamic company as a memento of this grand occasion with best wishes 2-12 for continued success in the years to come. 2-13 _______________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the 2-16 above Resolution was adopted by 2-17 the Senate on April 28, 1993. 2-18 _______________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 _______________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate 2-22 _______________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate 2-24 _______________________________ 2-25 Member, Texas Senate
