    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Eliseo Ramos, Jr.
    1-5        WHEREAS, South Texas lost one of its most beloved and
    1-6  respected sports legends with the death of Eliseo Ramos, Jr.,
    1-7  on March 30, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A former Hebbronville Longhorns and Falfurrias
    1-9  Fightin' Jerseys baseball coach, Coach Ramos had an unparalleled
   1-10  record of achievement with his teams; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman was a schoolteacher and
   1-12  coach in his hometown of Hebbronville from 1958 through 1974; while
   1-13  coaching for the Longhorns he led his team to an unprecedented 10
   1-14  district championships, eight bi-district titles, six area
   1-15  championships, and six regional titles; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, After accepting the head coaching position at
   1-17  Falfurrias, Eliseo Ramos continued his winning ways, guiding the
   1-18  Fightin' Jerseys to six district titles, four bi-district titles,
   1-19  and one area championship; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, His former players credit him with teaching them
   1-21  what it meant to be a team; all players worked together for a team
   1-22  victory, not personal glory; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Inspiring his players through his own personal
    2-1  example, Eliseo Ramos instilled in them a sense of pride and a
    2-2  belief in self; he also had a tremendous influence on other
    2-3  coaches; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, A public spirited citizen, Mr. Ramos served two
    2-5  terms as a trustee for the Brooks County Independent School
    2-6  District; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, Never far from a baseball diamond, Coach Ramos
    2-8  umpired high school and Little League games; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Eliseo Ramos will be deeply missed, but the honor he
   2-10  brought to the game of baseball will be a lasting tribute to his
   2-11  memory; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-14  of his family on their grievous loss:  his wife, Dalia Ramos; his
   2-15  daughter, Rita Ramos; and his sons, Eden, Eric, Eliseo III, and
   2-16  Evan Ramos; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-18  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-19  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-20  in memory of Eliseo Ramos, Jr.
