    1-4                          Coke Harrison Criss
    1-5        WHEREAS, Coke Harrison Criss was born October 22, 1992, in
    1-6  Austin, Texas, to David and Ronda Criss; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Coke Harrison Criss was named in honor of
    1-8  Coke Stevenson so that the same integrity, perseverance, and honor
    1-9  that formed the foundation of the life of the former Texas governor
   1-10  would serve as a model for this beloved son; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Although Coke Harrison Criss struggled with
   1-12  multiple health problems throughout the months following his birth,
   1-13  he showed his parents, family, and friends that his will to live
   1-14  was great and almost without bounds; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, During his short life, Coke Harrison Criss
   1-16  demonstrated that he, indeed, did possess the same rare strength
   1-17  of character and tenacity that his namesake exhibited numerous
   1-18  times during his many years of public service to Texas; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Governor Coke Stevenson showed he knew how to
   1-20  live with honor and Coke Harrison Criss showed he knew how to die
   1-21  with honor; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The lives of both of these Texans serve as an
   1-23  example to us all as we face hardship and difficulty; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, We stand here today not to mourn the loss of
    2-2  Coke Harrison Criss but to draw inspiration from his determination
    2-3  and make known to all that his family and friends will never forget
    2-4  him and will continue to love him all the days of their lives; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby celebrate the life of Coke Harrison Criss
    2-8  and recognize him for his courage and example; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  David and Ronda Criss as an expression of the heartfelt sentiment
   2-11  of the Texas Senate.
