No. 839 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to extend 1-3 congratulations to Olaya Lizette Solis of Corpus Christi who will 1-4 compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., on May 30 1-5 through June 5, 1993; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Lizette successfully competed against other area 1-7 winners in Texas on April 3, 1993, and won the prestigious honor 1-8 to represent her state at the national level; and 1-9 WHEREAS, An accomplished student, Lizette is the daughter 1-10 of Mr. and Mrs. Santiago Solis and attends Most Precious Blood 1-11 Catholic School where she is in the sixth grade; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Lizette has been preparing for the orthography 1-13 contest since her Christmas vacation and has studied several 1-14 hours a day under the careful coaching of her mother; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A dancing enthusiast, Lizette has learned jazz, 1-16 ballet, folklorico, and Spanish dancing from her mother who is 1-17 a dance instructor; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The 12-year-old has brought honor and recognition 1-19 to herself, her family, and her school, and she is a splendid 1-20 representative of the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-22 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Lizette Solis for her superb 1-23 accomplishments and extend best wishes to her for continued success 2-1 as she competes in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.; 2-2 and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-4 Miss Solis as an expression of the esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-5 _____________________________________ 2-6 President of the Senate 2-7 I hereby certify that the 2-8 above Resolution was adopted by 2-9 the Senate on May 4, 1993. 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 Secretary of the Senate 2-12 _____________________________________ 2-13 Member, Texas Senate
