    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly
    1-3  recognizes the Anderson County Chapter of the American Red Cross on
    1-4  the occasion of its 75th anniversary which is being celebrated this
    1-5  year; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Anderson County Chapter of Red Cross volunteers
    1-7  has consistently met the many needs and service requests of
    1-8  communities throughout the county; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The Anderson County Chapter received its charter
   1-10  December 28, 1917, and for the past 75 years has served our country's
   1-11  military personnel and their families and has come to the aid of
   1-12  citizens during times of local and national disasters; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, During World War I, the chapter's headquarters were
   1-14  a gathering place for women to sew bandages, knit sweaters, and
   1-15  organize donation drives; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The chapter provided disaster relief assistance
   1-17  during the tornadoes of 1987 and raised funds for relief and sent
   1-18  trained personnel to Florida and Puerto Rico; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, In addition to services mandated by the American
   1-20  Red Cross, the Anderson County Chapter has provided aid in coping
   1-21  with individual and community emergencies and training in
   1-22  cardiopulmonary resuscitation and lifeguarding; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Over the years, the chapter members have been
    2-1  generous with their time and energy and have served in countless
    2-2  community institutions that are essential to the well-being of Texans;
    2-3  now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the Anderson County Chapter of the
    2-6  American Red Cross on its many accomplishments and extend sincere
    2-7  appreciation for its invaluable assistance to citizens throughout
    2-8  the state; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-10  Anderson County Chapter of the American Red Cross as an expression of
   2-11  high regard from the Texas Senate.
