No. 854 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 join with Americans all across the nation in celebrating the 42nd 1-4 consecutive observance of the National Day of Prayer on 1-5 May 6, 1993; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Authorized by Congress and proclaimed annually by 1-7 the President, the National Day of Prayer is also proclaimed by 1-8 governors and mayors for their states and cities; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Protected by the United States Constitution, 1-10 religious freedom is cherished by people of all faiths and creeds 1-11 who have worshipped God according to the dictates of their own 1-12 consciences throughout the nation's history; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The Capital City of Washington, D.C., will have 1-14 prayer meetings all day in the Senate building where every half 1-15 hour a national leader will direct the prayer meeting; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Thousands of Americans will be in prayer all day 1-17 long and hundreds of thousands of citizens will take five minutes 1-18 at 12:00 noon to join them in prayer; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Church groups are encouraging all Americans to 1-20 take five minutes at noon on May 6 to pray for our homes, schools, 1-21 children, churches, government, and leaders; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-23 73rd Legislature, hereby recognize the National Day of Prayer on 2-1 May 6, 1993, as churches, schools, and organizations observe this 2-2 special time of prayer for our state, our nation, and the world. 2-3 _____________________________________ 2-4 President of the Senate 2-5 I hereby certify that the 2-6 above Resolution was adopted by 2-7 the Senate on May 5, 1993. 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 Secretary of the Senate 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 Member, Texas Senate
