    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Mary V. Kirkpatrick
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Reagan, Texas, in mourning the loss of
    1-7  Mrs. Mary V. Kirkpatrick who died April 2, 1993, at the age of
    1-8  84; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Born in Bremond, Texas, on April 9, 1908,
   1-10  Mrs. Kirkpatrick had lived in the area all of her life; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College where she
   1-12  earned a bachelor of arts degree and graduated from Baylor University
   1-13  with a master's degree; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A dedicated and diligent educator, Mrs. Kirkpatrick
   1-15  taught school in Reagan and Marlin for over 30 years and was a
   1-16  member of the Marlin Retired Teachers Association; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teacher's
   1-18  sorority, she was honored in 1988 with the chapter achievement
   1-19  award and the 50-year pin; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, An active community leader, Mrs. Kirkpatrick was
   1-21  a member of the Learners Club, the Marlin Community Garden Club,
   1-22  and the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club of Marlin; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, She was a faithful member of the Reagan United
    2-1  Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as the
    2-2  pianist; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Her wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
    2-4  missed and remembered with gratitude by those who knew her; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
    2-8  her bereaved family:  her husband, Thagard; her son,
    2-9  Lieutenant Colonel Donovan Kirkpatrick; her daughter,
   2-10  Karen K. Griffin; and her two granddaughters; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-12  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-13  the Senate of Texas, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
   2-14  do so in memory of Mary V. Kirkpatrick.
