    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Paul R. Reed was recently selected for a 1993
    1-3  faculty excellence award by Sam Houston State University, and the
    1-4  Texas Senate is pleased to commend him for receiving this prestigious
    1-5  honor; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Praised for his exceptional service to the university,
    1-7  Dr. Reed was awarded the Excellence in Service Award for his many
    1-8  lasting contributions as chair of the Faculty Senate and as a
    1-9  member of the University Budget Committee and the University
   1-10  Academic Policy Council; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Associate professor of management at
   1-12  Sam Houston State University, Paul Reed has been teaching in the
   1-13  College of Business Administration for the past 10 years; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A visionary leader, Dr. Reed has served on more than
   1-15  20 university, College of Business, and departmental committees,
   1-16  and works on the editorial boards of four publications and as
   1-17  reviewer for five publishing entities; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Through his deep involvement in education on
   1-19  the college level, Dr. Reed has provided insights and expertise as
   1-20  president of the Sam Houston State Chapter of the Texas Association
   1-21  of College Teachers and the school's chapter of the American
   1-22  Association of University Professors and as treasurer of the
   1-23  statewide Texas Association of College Teachers; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Actively involved in furthering the interests and
    2-2  development of Sam Houston State University, the esteemed professor
    2-3  has authored or coauthored more than 30 articles and other
    2-4  professional presentations and has been the recipient of
    2-5  four grants; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, The highly recognized professor received
    2-7  his bachelor of history degree in 1955 from Notre Dame; he
    2-8  continued his studies at Northwestern State University of Louisiana
    2-9  where he earned his master's degree in general business and at
   2-10  Mississippi State University where he earned his doctorate in
   2-11  management, accounting, and finance in 1983; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  73rd Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to
   2-14  Dr. Paul R. Reed for receiving the Excellence in Service award
   2-15  from Sam Houston State University and express appreciation to him
   2-16  for his notable accomplishments on behalf of higher education in the
   2-17  State of Texas; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-19  as an expression of the admiration of the Texas Senate.
