    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize the dental school at The University of Texas Health
    1-4  Science Center at San Antonio on the momentous occasion of being
    1-5  named the top dental school in the nation in U.S. News and
    1-6  World Report; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The dedication to excellence exhibited from the
    1-8  beginning by the students, faculty, and staff of this school have
    1-9  been amply rewarded; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, This coveted designation was awarded to the best
   1-11  dental school judged according to its reputation for scholarship,
   1-12  curriculum, and the quality of its faculty and graduate students;
   1-13  and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The school ranks among the top five United States
   1-15  dental schools in research funding with $4 million a year in grants
   1-16  and other support; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, All the residents of San Antonio should be proud
   1-18  of this acclaimed dental school; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The San Antonio school won over such well-known
   1-20  institutions as the University of California at Los Angeles and
   1-21  Harvard University; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The honor bestowed on the dental school in the
   1-23  national survey is a clear signal that the health science center
    2-1  and its five schools have accomplished a great deal in a short
    2-2  time; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  73rd Legislature, hereby congratulate The University of Texas
    2-5  Health Science Center's dental school on being named top dental
    2-6  school in the nation; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-8  the dental school at The University of Texas Health Science Center
    2-9  at San Antonio as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
