    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, It is with great pride that the Texas Senate
    1-3  welcomes Michelle Hatmaker, Mrs. Texas 1993, on her visit to the
    1-4  capital city, May 26 and 27, 1993; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A 31-year-old Galveston community leader,
    1-6  Mrs. Hatmaker was crowned Mrs. Texas 1993 on February 1 at a pageant
    1-7  in Houston; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Michelle Hatmaker is a woman of many talents who has
    1-9  learned to artfully balance a multifaceted career and family life;
   1-10  she is married to Dr. Roy Hatmaker, a chiropractic physician, and
   1-11  the couple has two sons, Daniel, age 9, and Jonathan, age 5; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Well known as an active civic leader, Michelle
   1-13  devotes much of her time to organizations that serve the community;
   1-14  formerly the public relations chairperson for the Rotary Club, she
   1-15  is a member of the Junior League, serves on the Board of Directors
   1-16  of the West Isle Little League, and is on the Board of Trustees of
   1-17  United Way; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, She also takes an active role in her husband's
   1-19  practice, using her paralegal training when she deals with
   1-20  insurance companies, workers' compensation, and attorneys; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, In addition to her many commitments in Galveston,
   1-22  Mrs. Hatmaker travels the State of Texas making volunteer
   1-23  appearances at civic, cultural, and charitable events; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Gracious, charming, and hardworking,
    2-2  Michelle Hatmaker is an exemplary lady who has brought pride to her
    2-3  family and to the State of Texas; in October of this year, Michelle
    2-4  will represent the State of Texas in the Mrs. America Pageant; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, Accomplished, intelligent, generous, and
    2-6  compassionate, Michelle Hatmaker is a role model for us all, and
    2-7  her worthy endeavors in the community reflect her dedication to
    2-8  others and to the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-10  73rd Legislature, hereby extend hospitality and a warm welcome to
   2-11  Michelle Hatmaker, Mrs. Texas 1993, and congratulate her on her
   2-12  exceptional achievements; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-14  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
