No. 914 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in recognizing Sue Edwards who has recently published a book 1-4 recording the history of Galena Park; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Galena Park, Mrs. Edwards has devoted 1-6 her life to serving the community she loves, and in doing so, has 1-7 provided its residents a lasting chronicle of the town's colorful 1-8 history; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A prominent businesswoman and community leader, 1-10 Mrs. Edwards has worked to help her city through her dedication 1-11 of her own time and abilities to the benefit of others; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Sue Edwards learned at an early age how rewarding 1-13 community work was when she volunteered as coordinator for the Galena 1-14 Park March of Dimes drive and the Muscular Dystrophy carnivals for 1-15 North Shore and Galena Park; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A magna cum laude graduate of the 1-17 University of Houston who was selected their "Outstanding Business 1-18 Student," she also earned master's degrees in Business Education 1-19 and Vocational Guidance and Counseling; and 1-20 WHEREAS, She returned to Galena Park and worked for the 1-21 Galena Park Independent School District as a Vocational Guidance 1-22 Counselor and she was instrumental in helping countless students 1-23 become productive citizens; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Editor of university, metropolitan, and business 2-2 newsletters, Mrs. Edwards is the author of several articles on 2-3 fitness and self-esteem; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Recognized for her many worthwhile accomplishments, 2-5 Sue Edwards is listed in Notable Women of Texas and Who's Who 2-6 of American Business Women; she was selected Business Woman of the 2-7 Year by the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce and Galena Park's 2-8 Lady-of-the-Year for her exceptional community service; and 2-9 WHEREAS, Her love for pageants led her to become involved 2-10 in the Miss Galena High Pageant where she has served as Mistress 2-11 of Ceremonies for the past 19 years; and 2-12 WHEREAS, Blessed with an abundance of energy, she has 2-13 pursued her dreams and has been inspired by her loyalty to her 2-14 family, her community, and her country; now, therefore, be it 2-150 President of the Senate 2-161 I hereby certify that the 2-172 above Resolution was adopted by 2-183 the Senate on May 11, 1993. 2-194 _____________________________________ 2-205 Secretary of the Senate 2-216 _____________________________________ 2-227 Member, Texas Senate
