No. 941 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Bo Barbe is retiring after 35 years of exceptional 1-3 service in the Texas public schools system, and the Texas Senate is 1-4 proud to recognize this remarkable man; and 1-5 WHEREAS, As director of special services for the Center 1-6 Independent School District, Mr. Barbe is the friend people turn 1-7 to for help with their particular needs; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Since 1958 Mr. Barbe has served public education 1-9 in Shelby County, 15 of those years in special services; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The Special Services Department guides students 1-11 toward self-sufficiency, with the aim of helping them become 1-12 productive citizens; and 1-13 WHEREAS, When these students are gainfully employed and 1-14 become taxpayers, the Special Services Department has accomplished 1-15 its goal; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. Barbe supervises a staff of 33 teachers and 1-17 aides who have developed a mutual trust and loyalty, the basis of 1-18 their remarkable accomplishments; and 1-19 WHEREAS, As a school official, Mr. Barbe serves on the 1-20 vocational education planning committee for the high school and 1-21 is in charge of the Special Education Director's Association for 1-22 Region VII, which is responsible for influencing legislation 1-23 concerned with funding special education; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community as a whole, the 2-2 esteemed individual serves on the board of directors of the 2-3 Deep East Texas Council of Governments and is a member of the 2-4 Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Association; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A friend to everyone, Mr. Barbe has earned the 2-6 respect and admiration of those with whom he works; and 2-7 WHEREAS, The citizens of Shelby County, and particularly 2-8 the young people, are fortunate to have the love, support, 2-9 friendship, and expertise of this benevolent man; now, therefore, 2-10 be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Bo Barbe for his many years of 2-13 splendid work with the Shelby County schools; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-15 Mr. Barbe as an expression of the high regard and appreciation of 2-16 the Texas Senate. 2-17 _____________________________________ 2-18 President of the Senate 2-19 I hereby certify that the 2-20 above Resolution was adopted by 2-21 the Senate on May 14, 1993. 2-22 _____________________________________ 2-23 Secretary of the Senate 2-24 _____________________________________ 2-25 Member, Texas Senate
