    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Carolyn Tarver was recently presented with the
    1-3  Oyster Creek Rotary Club pen in recognition of her exceptional
    1-4  work with needy children, and the Exchange Club of Sugar Land
    1-5  will also honor this beloved humanitarian for her many countless
    1-6  hours spent in meeting the needs of adults and children alike; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, After the loss of her only child in an accident
    1-8  in 1983, Mrs. Tarver searched for a way to transcend her personal
    1-9  pain and turned her efforts toward reaching out to underprivileged
   1-10  children; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, As the holiday season approached, she focused on
   1-12  the memory of her son and began to gather names of children of the
   1-13  Fort Bend community who needed help; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, With the assistance of residents in the various
   1-15  communities, and through door-to-door visits, Mrs. Tarver compiled
   1-16  names of needy families throughout the area; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Businesses, churches, and various organizations
   1-18  contributed needed items such as blankets, clothes, food, and
   1-19  heaters; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Known as "Mrs. Santa Claus" to recipients,
   1-21  Mrs. Tarver has continued the gift-giving since that time and saw
   1-22  to it that more than 621 children received presents last year for
   1-23  Christmas; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Through her work Mrs. Tarver has become involved
    2-2  with several organizations and has learned firsthand of the needs
    2-3  of many children and their families; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, She is very active with the East Fort Bend Human
    2-5  Needs Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, and Youth Opportunities
    2-6  Unlimited; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, Through her personal sorrow Carolyn Tarver has
    2-8  reached out to others and received numerous blessings that have
    2-9  helped heal her own suffering; truly this generous woman is worthy
   2-10  of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  73rd Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the contributions
   2-13  that Carolyn Tarver has made to her community; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
   2-15  for Carolyn Tarver as an expression of high regard from the
   2-16  Texas Senate.
