No. 949 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize May 23 through 29, 1993, as Emergency Medical Services 1-4 Week in honor of those men and women who provide lifesaving 1-5 emergency care to our nation's residents every day of the year; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services is a vital public 1-7 service; access to quality emergency care dramatically improves 1-8 the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden 1-9 illness or injury; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The members of Emergency Medical Services teams 1-11 like those at Diamond Medical Services and Williams-Diamond EMS are 1-12 ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, 1-13 seven days a week; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The members of Emergency Medical Services teams 1-15 engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing 1-16 education to enhance their lifesaving skills; Emergency Medical 1-17 Services teams consist of physicians, nurses, medical technicians, 1-18 paramedics, educators, administrators, and others; and 1-19 WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the value and the 1-20 accomplishments of Emergency Medical Services providers by 1-21 designating an Emergency Medical Services Week; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The designation of Emergency Medical Services 1-23 Week also will serve to educate the people of Texas and across 2-1 the nation about injury prevention and how to respond to a 2-2 medical emergency; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 73rd Legislature, hereby commend all who serve in the Emergency 2-5 Medical Services of our state and country and declare May 23 2-6 through 29 as Emergency Medical Services Week; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 Diamond Medical Services and Williams-Diamond EMS as an expression 2-9 of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the 2-13 above Resolution was adopted by 2-14 the Senate on May 17, 1993. 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 _____________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
