No. 965 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Francisco "Paco" Alfonso Salas 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with 1-6 the citizens of Brownsville in mourning the untimely loss of 1-7 Francisco "Paco" Alfonso Salas who died May 9, 1993; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born December 1, 1972, in Mexico City, Paco 1-9 graduated from high school in San Luis Potosi and then moved 1-10 with his family to Brownsville, Texas; and 1-11 WHEREAS, He attended Texas Southmost College and transferred 1-12 to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a 1-13 member of the junior class at the time of his death; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An intelligent and hardworking student, Paco 1-15 majored in international business, was a member of the International 1-16 Business Society, and was on the university's dean's list, having 1-17 earned a 3.8 grade-point-average last semester; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Paco was a talented and popular student who was 1-19 beloved by his classmates in high school and in college; and 1-20 WHEREAS, While attending Southwest Texas State University, he 1-21 worked part-time for the office of the Sergeant of the Texas Senate 1-22 where he was well liked by all and where his presence will be 1-23 greatly missed; and 2-1 WHEREAS, His previous employment included working for his 2-2 parents in their import/export business and working for M T 2-3 International Fibers, Incorporated, and the Cameron County 2-4 District Clerk's Office; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Paco was an exemplary young man of integrity, 2-6 strength, and generosity who gave unselfishly of his time to 2-7 others; and 2-8 WHEREAS, He will long be remembered as a warmhearted 2-9 individual with an engaging personality and a delightful sense 2-10 of humor; and 2-11 WHEREAS, A source of pride and joy to those close to him 2-12 and to his community, Paco leaves behind memories that will be 2-13 treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, 2-14 be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-16 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-17 bereaved family of Francisco Alfonso Salas: his parents, 2-18 Alicia L. C. and Robert J.
