    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Junior Statesmen of America is a nonpartisan,
    1-3  student-run organization promoting the values inherent in our great
    1-4  democratic system; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The first chapter of Junior Statesmen in Texas was
    1-6  founded at Klein Oak High School over eight years ago, and the
    1-7  Texas program has existed as an established region since
    1-8  November, 1990; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The leadership in Texas has made expansion and
   1-10  education the primary focus of the organization since its founding,
   1-11  and the membership has unselfishly sacrificed to achieve these
   1-12  goals in Texas; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, On December 13, 1992, the Junior State Council of
   1-14  Governors unanimously voted to grant the Heart of Texas Region
   1-15  statehood for its outstanding accomplishments in expansion,
   1-16  chapter affairs, and leadership; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The achievements of the Texas Junior State and
   1-18  its members are noteworthy in history for grasping the fundamental
   1-19  principles of democracy and taking the initiative in educating
   1-20  the youth of Texas on these principles; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-22  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the founding fathers and
   1-23  mothers of the Texas Junior State for their drive and
    2-1  determination in achieving statehood; and, be it further
    2-2        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-3  Texas Junior State as an expression of high esteem from the
    2-4  Texas Senate.
