    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Dr. Maurice W. Roney for his outstanding dedication
    1-4  to the field of vocational-technical education; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman will be accorded the
    1-6  singular honor of having a teaching center named for him; the center
    1-7  will be dedicated May 21, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The center, built by the Center for Occupational
    1-9  Research and Development, is a 7,000 square foot state of the art
   1-10  training facility located in Waco; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Well known in the Central Texas area, the Center
   1-12  for Occupational Research and Development has built this innovative
   1-13  center in order to establish and position it as a unique source and
   1-14  location for specialty training and seminars; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The new facility will be used to conduct teacher
   1-16  training workshops throughout the United States; it will also serve
   1-17  to develop a teacher network for Applied Academics; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Actively involved in community programs, Dr. Roney
   1-19  is the first Board Chairman of the Center for Occupational Research
   1-20  and Development and a former president of Texas State Technical
   1-21  Institute; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-23  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Maurice W. Roney for his
    2-1  years of service in the field of vocational-technical education
    2-2  and congratulate him on the dedication of the new Maurice W. Roney
    2-3  Teaching Center; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-5  this prominent educator as a token of the esteem of the Texas Senate.
