    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing T. Marion Neill for his 37 years of loyal service with
    1-4  the Broaddus Independent School District; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A well-known figure in the state's educational
    1-6  system, Mr. Neill has had an outstanding career that has included
    1-7  serving for 31 years as basketball coach and principal with the
    1-8  Broaddus Independent School District; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Under his leadership, Broaddus won the Class A
   1-10  state basketball championship in 1976 and 1977; he also coached the
   1-11  all-time Southwest Conference scoring leader and current professional
   1-12  basketball player Terry Teagle; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, During his tenure, the Bulldog teams averaged
   1-14  21.3 wins per season; the boys division garnered eight district
   1-15  championships and four regional championships, earning a position
   1-16  in the state playoffs four times; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mr. Neill also coached the girls team for 12 years,
   1-18  bringing home seven district championships; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Upon his retirement from coaching, Mr. Neill became
   1-20  superintendent of the Broaddus Independent School District; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A talented and exemplary superintendent, Mr. Neill
   1-22  is admired by his colleagues in education and by the citizens of
   1-23  Broaddus; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Mr. Neill's distinguished leadership as a coach,
    2-2  principal, and superintendent has contributed greatly to the growth
    2-3  and quality of education in the Broaddus community, and he has
    2-4  played a major role in making the Broaddus Independent School
    2-5  District the successful school system it is today; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Due to Mr. Neill's superior guidance, many Broaddus
    2-7  Independent School District students have distinguished themselves
    2-8  at state universities and in business, professional, and public
    2-9  services throughout the state; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  73rd Legislature, hereby express sincere appreciation to
   2-12  T. Marion Neill for his notable achievements and his years of
   2-13  dedication to the fields of education and coaching; and, be it
   2-14  further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
