By: Luna S.R. No. 988 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in extending congratulations to Bruce H. Limpus for his exemplary 1-4 work in advancing the study of the humanities; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A teacher at Edgewood High School in San Antonio 1-6 for the past 11 years, Mr. Limpus was chosen to receive Honorable 1-7 Mention recognition as part of the 1993 Outstanding Teaching of 1-8 the Humanities Awards by the Texas Committee for the Humanities; and 1-9 WHEREAS, These coveted awards are granted to teachers 1-10 of history, literature, foreign languages, government, social 1-11 studies, and related fields in the state's elementary, middle, 1-12 and high schools in recognition of exemplary contributions in 1-13 teaching, curriculum development, and extracurricular programs; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Limpus is a remarkable teacher who has 1-16 demonstrated continued excellence in the vitally important 1-17 teaching field and has made significant contributions to his 1-18 profession; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The esteemed educator received his bachelor of 1-20 arts degree in English literature at the University of Maryland 1-21 in 1974 and earned his master's degree in educational psychology 1-22 at Wayne State University in 1975; he continued his advanced studies 1-23 in Intensive Russian at Syracuse University and in Intensive Polish 2-1 at D.L.I. in Monterey, California; and 2-2 WHEREAS, He recently published an article in the 2-3 Prufrock Journal on exploring the humanities through 2-4 performance-based video projects and is currently preparing 2-5 a book on the same subject for Prufrock Publications; and 2-6 WHEREAS, The superb teacher has brought a sense of 2-7 tremendous pride to Edgewood High School and the community and 2-8 is truly deserving of the honor bestowed on him; now, therefore, 2-9 be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Bruce H.
