    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Sixty years ago, on May 22, 1933,
    1-3  John and Girlinear Langston placed great faith and trust in the
    1-4  future and they have been amply rewarded as they recently
    1-5  celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
    1-7  years of their marriage yet Mr. and Mrs. Langston have steadfastly
    1-8  embraced traditional family and moral values; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their
   1-10  love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and
   1-11  sorrows of everyday living; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Langston have been blessed with a
   1-13  wonderful family; they have over 70 great-nieces and great-nephews,
   1-14  all of whom value the love, support, and wise counsel they have
   1-15  received from their aunt and uncle; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Mr. Langston was one of nine children born to
   1-17  ex-slave Mack Langston, Sr., and his wife Frankie Ann; he became
   1-18  a licensed electronic technician and has had his own business
   1-19  for years, repairing radios, televisions, and small electric
   1-20  appliances; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, He is a member of Paul Drayton Lodge Number 9,
   1-22  the South Dallas Harding Street Neighborhood Watch Committee, and
   1-23  Friendly Missionary Baptist Church; his hobbies include fishing
    2-1  and gardening; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Mrs. Langston worked for one of Dallas's most
    2-3  prominent families in Highland Park until her retirement; she
    2-4  enjoys ceramics and sewing, collects antique dolls, and is active
    2-5  with the South Dallas Senior Citizens Group; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Langston are sharing their happiness
    2-7  with their family and friends at an anniversary celebration on
    2-8  May 22, 1993; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Langston
   2-10  is truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to
   2-13  Mr. and Mrs. John Langston on their 60th wedding anniversary; and,
   2-14  be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in their
   2-17  lives.
