    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Broderick F. Butler for his outstanding work in
    1-4  Representative Sylvester Turner's office during the
    1-5  73rd Legislative Session; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Broderick was a participant in the Rodney Ellis
    1-7  Professional Internship Program sponsored by the Mickey Leland
    1-8  Center at Texas Southern University; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, This excellent internship program, established
   1-10  in December, 1990, provides a unique opportunity for minorities
   1-11  to interact with members of the executive, legislative, and
   1-12  judicial branches of state government; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, As a legislative intern, Broderick has gained
   1-14  firsthand knowledge of the legislative process and practical
   1-15  work experience in the political environment; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A bright and talented individual, Broderick
   1-17  skillfully handled the multifaceted duties of a legislator's
   1-18  office and assisted with the needs of constituents; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, His responsibilities centered on researching
   1-20  correction affairs and analyzing a wide array of legislative
   1-21  issues including taxes, education, and energy; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Broderick's professional experience has included
   1-23  working in sales for Tiffany and Company and Mark Cross Limited
    2-1  in Houston and working for a Houston attorney; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, His community activities have included serving
    2-3  as a committee member for the 1990 National Bar Association
    2-4  Convention in Houston, serving as a committee member for the
    2-5  Texas Southern University Career Conference and Job Fair in
    2-6  Houston, and serving as a tutor for students at
    2-7  Texas Southern University; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Broderick is diligent, resourceful, and dedicated
    2-9  to his work; he is currently pursuing a bachelor of science degree
   2-10  at Texas Southern University in Houston; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Broderick F. Butler for his
   2-13  exceptional contributions to the Texas Legislature during the
   2-14  73rd Legislative Session and extend best wishes for the future;
   2-15  and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-17  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
