No. 1021 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud 1-3 to recognize Patricia Garza for her outstanding work in 1-4 Representative Mario Gallegos' office during the 1-5 73rd Legislative Session; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Patricia was a participant in the Rodney Ellis 1-7 Professional Internship Program sponsored by the Mickey Leland 1-8 Center at Texas Southern University; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This excellent internship program, established 1-10 in December, 1990, provides a unique opportunity for minorities 1-11 to interact with members of the executive, legislative, and 1-12 judicial branches of state government; and 1-13 WHEREAS, As a legislative intern, Patricia has gained 1-14 firsthand knowledge of the legislative process and practical 1-15 work experience in the political environment; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A bright and talented individual, Patricia 1-17 skillfully handled the multifaceted duties of a legislator's 1-18 office and assisted with the needs of constituents; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Patricia's professional experience has included 1-20 working as an intern at AT&T Public Relations and de La Garza 1-21 Public Relations in Houston; she was also a demonstrator of 1-22 Philips new technology, Compact Disc Interactive, at electronics 1-23 stores through Elegancia Productions/M. A. Escobedo and Associates 2-1 in Houston; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Patricia has received numerous awards for her 2-3 accomplishments; she received a University of Houston Academic 2-4 Excellence Award and earned an International Association of 2-5 Business Communicators Scholarship/Internship and a Ralph Frede 2-6 Scholarship from the Public Relations Society of America; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Patricia is diligent, resourceful, and dedicated 2-8 to her work; she has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism with 2-9 a public relations specialty from the University of Houston; now, 2-10 therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Patricia Garza for her 2-13 exceptional contributions to the Texas Legislature during the 2-14 73rd Legislative Session and extend best wishes for the future; 2-15 and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-17 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-18 _____________________________________ 2-19 President of the Senate 2-20 I hereby certify that the 2-21 above Resolution was adopted by 2-22 the Senate on May 22, 1993. 2-23 _____________________________________ 2-24 Secretary of the Senate 2-25 _____________________________________ 3-1 Member, Texas Senate
