No. 1032 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to honor the 1-3 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas Agricultural Extension 1-4 Service for 85 years of providing experience-based education to 1-5 youngsters throughout the Lone Star State; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This admirable program, which seeks to 1-7 provide a learning experience for the whole child, including head, 1-8 heart, hands, and health, helps young Texans to acquire knowledge, 1-9 develop life skills, and form attitudes to enable them to become 1-10 self-directed, productive, and contributing members of our 1-11 society; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Its 500,000 urban, suburban, and rural members, 1-13 ranging in age from five to 19, hail from diverse ethnic and 1-14 socioeconomic backgrounds and truly represent a cross-section of the 1-15 state; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The program undoubtedly could not have achieved the 1-17 success that it has today were it not for the service of its more 1-18 than 65,000 volunteers, who have given generously of their time, 1-19 talents, energies, and resources to the youth of Texas; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, the 4-H program has 1-21 developed positive role models for countless Texans and through its 1-22 innovative and inspiring programs continues to build character and 1-23 to instill the values that have made our state strong and great; 2-1 now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 73rd Legislature, hereby designate May 24, 1993, as 4-H Day in 2-4 Texas and commend the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas 2-5 Agricultural Extension Service and the many men and women who have 2-6 made the program a success. 2-7 _____________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the 2-10 above Resolution was adopted by 2-11 the Senate on May 24, 1993. 2-12 _____________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
