1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
1-3 recognizing B. J. Murray who has been an educational leader in
1-4 the Hurst-Euless-Bedford School District for over 37 years; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, B. J. Murray
1-6 has had a positive influence on the lives of innumerable students
1-7 and teachers, many of whom still reside in the community; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Murray has held many positions of honor and
1-9 leadership during his distinguished career; he organized and was
1-10 the first president of Hurst-Euless-Bedford's local Texas State
1-11 Teachers Association; and
1-12 WHEREAS, He has been chairman of the Southern Association
1-13 of Secondary Schools in Region XI, president of the
1-14 Hurst-Euless-Bedford Administrator's Association, and chairman of
1-15 University Interscholastic League for Secondary Schools; he has
1-16 served on the Board of Directors for the Texas State Principal's
1-17 Association; and
1-18 WHEREAS, B. J. Murray began his exceptional career as a
1-19 teacher and coach at Hurst Junior High School and Bell High School
1-20 during the late 1950s; he then became assistant principal of Hurst
1-21 Junior High School and the first principal of Central Junior High
1-22 in 1965; and
1-23 WHEREAS, In 1968, he became principal of the newly built
2-1 Trinity High School, a position in which he would remain for the
2-2 next 25 years; and
2-3 WHEREAS, An exceptionally gifted and dedicated
2-4 administrator, Mr. Murray skillfully handled the complexities and
2-5 far-reaching responsibilities of a high school principal; and
2-6 WHEREAS, His dynamic leadership brought Trinity High School
2-7 to the forefront in academics, sports, and fine arts; and
2-8 WHEREAS, Due to his wisdom and guidance, numerous students
2-9 have distinguished themselves at colleges and universities, and
2-10 in business, professional, and public services; and
2-11 WHEREAS, During his long and illustrious career,
2-12 B. J. Murray made many enduring friendships in the community and
2-13 his many accomplishments have brought acclaim and honor to the
2-14 City of Euless; now, therefore, be it
2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-16 73rd Legislature, hereby commend B. J. Murray for his years of
2-17 dedication to the field of education and join with the citizens
2-18 of the City of Euless in recognizing June 5, 1993, as
2-19 "B. J. Murray Day"; and, be it further
2-20 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-21 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
