No. 1063 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-3 who have shared 50 happy and fulfilling years of marriage is truly 1-4 a memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, John Otis and Joe Helen Hall Bell were married 1-6 on June 12, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas; he was a sergeant in the 1-7 United States Army stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; before 1-8 he was sent to active duty in the European Theater, they lived 1-9 briefly in Durham, North Carolina, Fayetteville, North Carolina, 1-10 and Charlotte, Virginia; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bell were high school sweethearts 1-12 who went to I. M. Terrell High School in Fort Worth; they dated 1-13 throughout high school and during college; and 1-14 WHEREAS, After the war was over, Mr. and Mrs. Bell moved 1-15 to Austin, Texas, to attend Tillotson College and remained there 1-16 after graduation; and 1-17 WHEREAS, John Bell worked for the Austin Independent School 1-18 District and retired from the school district after 34 years of 1-19 outstanding service; Joe Helen retired in 1987 as secretary and 1-20 receptionist for Lieutenant Governor William P. Hobby; and 1-21 WHEREAS, For half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Bell have shared 1-22 a strong and lasting marriage filled with many happy times and 1-23 cherished family memories; built on a foundation of mutual love, 2-1 trust, and support, their life together has been a source of joy 2-2 and inspiration for a great many people; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 73rd Legislature, hereby congratulate Mr. and Mrs. John Otis Bell 2-5 on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to 2-6 them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. John Bell as an expression of high regard 2-9 from the Texas Senate. 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the 2-13 above Resolution was adopted by 2-14 the Senate on May 25, 1993. 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 _____________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
