No. 1066 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 congratulate the Institute of Advanced Technology on the grand 1-4 occasion of its third anniversary on May 25, 1993; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The institute was established by 1-6 The University of Texas at Austin on May 25, 1990, as an 1-7 autonomous research center specifically designated for research 1-8 and development with several priority missions, including serving 1-9 the higher education goals of the State of Texas; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The Institute for Advanced Technology is recognized 1-11 as an independent, nonprofit institute that is free from conflicts 1-12 of interest and committed to serving the public interest; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Specifically designated for research and 1-14 development dedicated to supporting the United States Army with 1-15 scientific and engineering research vital to the national security, 1-16 the Institute for Advanced Technology places its emphasis on 1-17 electrodynamics and hypervelocity physics in electrodynamics, 1-18 focusing on concept definition and numerical modeling, engineering 1-19 design, and laboratory prototype testing of advanced compact power 1-20 sources and accelerators; in hypervelocity physics, the emphasis is 1-21 on development and analysis of impact mechanics and aeroballistics 1-22 models and the testing of hypervelocity projectiles; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The Institute for Advanced Technology has 2-1 established its credibility within the worldwide electric armaments 2-2 technology community as a technical agent for the United States 2-3 Government and a clearinghouse for technology transfer among 2-4 industry, government, and academia; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 73rd Legislature, hereby congratulate the Institute of Advanced 2-7 Technology on its third anniversary and applaud the institute's 2-8 significant contributions to the State of Texas; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-10 the institute as a token of the highest regard of the Texas Senate. 2-11 _____________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the 2-14 above Resolution was adopted by 2-15 the Senate on May 25, 1993. 2-16 _____________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 _____________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
