No. 1075 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Commissioner Milton Carroll who was appointed by the 1-4 Houston City Council to the Port of Houston Commission in 1987; and 1-5 WHEREAS, As a Port Commissioner, Mr. Carroll has worked 1-6 diligently and has sought to diversify the minority representation 1-7 of Port of Houston employees and contractors; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A native Houstonian, Milton Carroll received 1-9 his bachelor of science degree from Texas Southern University; 1-10 he began his career as a draftsman for Schlumberger Well Services 1-11 in 1968; and 1-12 WHEREAS, He later founded and became chairman and 1-13 chief executive officer of Instrument Products, Incorporated, 1-14 a Houston-based company specializing in manufacturing oil field 1-15 equipment and other high technology products; and 1-16 WHEREAS, An outstanding leader in his profession and in 1-17 his community, Milton Carroll serves as director of the Houston 1-18 branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the Houston Endowment 1-19 Foundation, Houston Industries, Incorporated, Houston Lighting and 1-20 Power Company, and the Greater Houston Partnership, in addition to 1-21 serving as a Port Commissioner; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A man who generously devotes time and 1-23 energy to civic affairs, Mr. Carroll is an active member 2-1 of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association 2-2 and a supporter of several organizations, including United Negro 2-3 College Fund, Phi Beta Kappa Alumni of Greater Houston, the Young 2-4 Men's Christian Association, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary gentleman whose concern 2-6 for others is legendary, Milton Carroll has played a major role in 2-7 the betterment of the Houston community and has made many worthy 2-8 contributions as a Port Commissioner; now, therefore, be it 2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-10 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Milton Carroll on his exceptional 2-11 achievements and express appreciation for his numerous contributions 2-12 to our state; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-14 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the 2-18 above Resolution was adopted by 2-19 the Senate on May 26, 1993. 2-20 _____________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 _____________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
