No. 1078 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Jack Reynolds 1-5 WHEREAS, The City of Austin and the State Bar of Texas 1-6 lost an outstanding citizen with the death of Jack Reynolds on 1-7 May 12, 1993; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Until his retirement in 1990, Mr. Reynolds 1-9 was Associate Executive Director of the State Bar of Texas; he 1-10 administered its business operations during his 18-year career 1-11 there; and 1-12 WHEREAS, During his tenure at the State Bar, Mr. Reynolds 1-13 oversaw the construction of the Texas Law Center and the Gene Cavin 1-14 Professional Development Center; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Jack Reynolds was a longtime municipal 1-16 executive before he went to work for the Texas Bar; he was 1-17 administrative assistant to the city manager in San Antonio from 1-18 1957 through 1959, Edinburg city manager and director of finance 1-19 from 1959 until 1963, and Denton city manager from 1963 to 1968; 1-20 he served as general manager of the Western Paper Division of the 1-21 Kimbell Milling Company from 1968 to 1969 and as vice president and 1-22 controller of H. M. Russell and Sons in Denton; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Remembered as modest and hardworking, Mr. Reynolds 2-1 made many friends during his time with the State Bar; and 2-2 WHEREAS, A man of great ability and unquestioned integrity, 2-3 his business associates remember that his word was his bond and 2-4 that his business acumen was unsurpassed; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Reynolds was born in Columbus, Kansas, 2-6 and pursued his higher education in California; he received 2-7 his bachelor's degree from Fresno State College and his master's 2-8 degree in public administration-city management from the University 2-9 of Southern California in Los Angeles; and 2-10 WHEREAS, Courageous and patriotic, Jack Reynolds served in 2-11 the United States Army Intelligence in Guam from 1954 to 1957; and 2-12 WHEREAS, His varied and notable accomplishments contributed 2-13 to the wealth and progress of his community; his wise counsel and 2-14 good judgment will be missed and remembered with gratitude by those 2-15 whose lives he touched; and 2-16 WHEREAS, Highly esteemed by his fellow citizens, this 2-17 outstanding gentleman was always ready to lend a hand to help 2-18 a colleague; and 2-19 WHEREAS, Dedicated and intelligent, Mr. Reynolds was a man 2-20 whose loss is keenly felt; now, therefore, be it 2-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-22 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to 2-23 the members of his family: his wife, Mary; his daughters, 2-24 Kathleen Singleton, Carla Sybesma, and Suzanna Haskins; his 2-25 grandsons, James Reynolds "Jim" Anderson and Brian Shane Haskins; 3-1 and his sister, Margaret Tooley; and, be it further 3-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 3-3 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 3-4 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 3-5 in memory of Jack Reynolds. 3-6 _____________________________________ 3-7 President of the Senate 3-8 I hereby certify that the 3-9 above Resolution was adopted by 3-10 the Senate on May 26, 1993, 3-11 by a rising vote. 3-12 _____________________________________ 3-13 Secretary of the Senate 3-14 _____________________________________ 3-15 Member, Texas Senate
